Breaking Down Silos

Updated: Feb 1

A strategic advisory engagement with a well-funded tech company found that siloed teams had led to miscommunication, inefficiency, and missed opportunities.

To remedy this situation, the leadership implemented cross-functional strategy meetings using Edward de Bono’s Six Thinking Hats to encourage collaborative problem-solving. Teams began to trust each other, leading to faster decision-making and more cohesive execution.

Lesson: Breaking down silos requires both structural changes and fostering a mindset of collaboration enhanced by parallel thinking.
